HOW TO UNWIND WHEN YOU'RE THE BOSS

It can be hard to separate your work life from home life - especially when you are the boss. Your to-do list, unanswered emails and ideas for new projects are likely swirling around your head even when you try your hardest to unplug.

We can totally relate.

Taking time to unwind and relax is key to not only being happier at home but also to being more productive at work. When you recharge you can be focused and at the top of your game. Here are some of our favorite ways to relieve stress after a long day!

Sweat it out.

We know that a good workout has so many benefits and is vital to staying healthy, but sometimes we don’t always find the time or make it a priority. A great spin or barre class after work can release tension and allow your mind to focus on something other than what you didn’t get done at the office. Schedule your workouts into your calendar so it becomes less tempting to skip on days when you feel unmotivated.

Take a hot bath.

This may sound cliche, but it totally works! A bath with Epsom salt and a few drops of lavender or eucalyptus oil can help clear your mind and melt away the stress of the day- even if for just ten minutes. Warm water  on the skin triggers the release of endorphins, which can be very therapeutic. The addition of Epsom salt takes your bath to the next level, relieving tension and muscle soreness (hello stiff neck from working over your laptop all day).

Unplug; literally.

Turn off your phone and laptop or at least put them in another room.  Making it a point to avoid checking emails and social media at least one hour before bed not only allows you to clear your mind, but it will also help you sleep better. The blue light emitted by our devices is believed to slow down the production of melatonin- a hormone which tells our brain its time for sleep. Stop your scroll and exchange it for more sleep!
